A New Corporate Office

Chamber Music America is a service organization for ensemble music professionals consisting of individual musicians, ensembles, presenters, artist managers, composers, educators. Its role is to provide access to professional development seminars, grants and awards, and opportunities to connect with musicians, presenters, managers and other chamber music professionals across the country.

Chamber Music America was looking to relocate and create a new head office in New York City tailored to meet its needs and that of its workers. To this end, CMA appointed E.J. York Inc. as the general contractor for the fit-out of 2,300sf on the seventh floor for 12 west 32nd street. Located in the heart of Korea town in New York City, The Architect, NADAAA Inc. provided space planning and interior design service for the project.

Project Scope

The project began with the complete demolition of the existing space, including walls, ceiling, floors and MEPS. A new ductable 8 ton ceiling mounted package air-conditioning unit was installed. After all MEPS upgrades were completed, fit-out began.  The new office space consisted of open plan spaces, conference room, storage areas, pantry area, reception and lobby area.

Extensive coordination was required with data, fire alarm, ductwork, sprinkler piping and electrical to ensure proper rough in work for the respective trades. Our staff also coordinated with all team members in an effort to save the client money for this new work. For example, re-designing the sprinkler systems to reuse portions of existing piping resulted in a significant cost savings for the client.
